Wonju South Lakeside Gallery New Artists' Exhibition: Application #32
Artist's Name: Jillian Grey
Artist's description of submitted artwork: "The Unicorn's Agony" (acrylic and steel washers on canvas) is a post-post-modern exploration of the intersection of the human and the hypothetical alien, in the context of personal turmoil and collisions with the past. The reflective properties of the unicorn's dorsal fin symbolize uncertainty about the future, and the globs of pink glue scattered over the piece evoke a sense of melancholy.
[Adjudicator's note: Was this piece created by hallucinating elves, and then later vandalized by a class of preschoolers? That's the only rational explanation I can think of. Ow, my eyes.]
Status of application: Rejected. [Adjudicator's note: Do we have to return it to the artist? Could we burn it instead? The universe would thank us. I do not get paid enough for this.]
