Wednesday 1st July was our third meeting using Zoom and there were fewer technical issues

The meeting included:

  • a Pictures2Exe slide show on Great Uncle Albert who fell in WW1

  • a discussion on the age range of volunteers during WW1, there was no apparent upper age limit

  • tests to ensure that Zoom participants could share screens as appropriate

  • a discussion on specific members problems and possible approaches. Research during the interval showed the differing information available on various family history sites. It also highlighted transcription errors e.g. artificial being transcribed as unpaid and the changing of birth years on documents from different time periods

  • availibility of more online sources of information. Findmypast has interative Q & A sessions which are posted to Youtube. An example on parish records is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpz77nE2wRE

  • a further presentation on the history of a family member involved in the Army is planned for the next session.
