BUS100 Business Skills and Management was the first and only module I took in Term 1 in Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). This module focuses on Business Spreadsheet Modelling using Microsoft Excel. Thus, we learnt about the different functions, formulas and tools of Microsoft Excel and the excel skill of how to model real-life business situations using these different tools.
Personally, I had a difficult time during the first few lessons of this module as I had no prior knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its functions and uses. Nevertheless, through preparation before class and with the help of my classmates and the professor, I managed to be on par with the rest in terms of Basic Excel skills and even learnt Advanced Excel Skills which are useful. However, learning technical Basic and Advanced Excel skills is not enough to score well for the final Tutor-Marked Assignment (TMA) for this module. Creating the spreadsheet model and modelling the business situation through the practical application of these Basic and Advanced Excel skills is the key to doing well for the TMA.
Through this module, I also learnt teamwork. I often asked my classmates for help when I faced difficulties while doing the TMA and I am very grateful for them helping me readily each time. Together, we conquered the TMA of this module - BUS100 Business Skills and Management and thus, concluded the short but meaningful Term 1 of our SUSS journey.
In conclusion, this module really benefited me in terms of having the knowledge of useful basic and advanced Excel skills as I can apply them to real life business scenarios and this can help me with my future assignments.
