Feedback is more a learning tool that encourages learning rather than an assessment method. The role of the feedback is to apprise students of where and how their learning and performance can be improved. Feedback to the student should be provided as soon as possible after the assessment and should be supportive of the learning to encourage improvement. It should be directly related to the learning outcomes being evaluated and the grading criteria so that the student understands how he is being evaluated. Feedback should go beyond the superficial correction of the work and relate more to the achievement of the learning outcomes. The feedback must be positively worded and suggest improvement rather than critique lack of meeting the evaluation criteria.
