The Alweg Monorail was one of the largest attractions at the fair. During the fair, millions of guests boarded the monorail in downtown Seattle for the 90 second ride to the fair. Since then, this attraction has been featured in numerous films including It Happened at the World's Fair, Assassins, Love Happens, Harry In Your Pocket, No Retreat No Surrender and Trouble in Mind.

The monorail and Seattle Center station are virtually unchanged since the fair. Visitors today can still ride the original trains built in 1961. However, the original southern station at Pine Street and Westlake Avenue was removed and a new station added a block north during the construction of Westlake Center shopping mall in 1988. Today, riders enter the station through the mall instead of from the street. In 2000, Paul Allen's Experience Music Project opened just east of the Seattle Center station, and the monorail passes through the structure.
