The Washington State Coliseum was one of several permanent buildings created for the fair with the intention of being used far into the future. During the fair, it housed the World of Tomorrow exhibit, France Exhibit, American Library Association, General Motors Corporation, Pan American Airways, Washington Tourist Information Center, Cancer Research Exhibit, Radio Corporation of America, and Children's World. As visitors entered the building, they were escorted onto the "Bubbleator" - a futuristic bubble-shaped elevator that transported them into the "World of Tomorrow," where they were surrounded by hundreds of suspended aluminum cubes and a multimedia foretelling the threat of nuclear annihilation.

After the fair, the exhibits was demolished and the Coliseum became a major entertainment venue, housing sporting events and concerts. In 1995, it underwent major renovations (mostly interior) and was renamed Key Arena.
The Bubbleator was saved and now serves as a greenhouse at 28708 Sound View Drive South in Des Moines, WA.
