The Space Needle was the main attraction and centerpiece for Century 21. This towering landmark (605') was completed on December 8, 1961 and at the time was the tallest structure in Seattle. Featuring a revolving restaurant and observation deck, the Space Needle is still in operation today and as popular as ever. Without a doubt, it is Seattle's landmark attraction and most well-known surviving structure of the fair.

Some slight changes have altered the appearance of the Needle, including the 1982 addition of the SkyLine level at 100 feet. Gone is the upper deck's yellow and orange paint scheme for the fair. In 2000, an expensive overhaul added a renovated ground-level entrance with retail store and updates to the observation deck and restaurant.
