4. Why I am taking the Specialist Diploma: To more effectively involve in instructional design

5. What I hope to gain from the New Media Pedagogy course: To be able to utilize the new media for my instructional roles

6. My notes and questions:

• Where does knowledge reside? - Knowledge reside in our brain through learning and experiencing. I can see that my knowledge is really just a network of connections that my brain has made between ‘knowledge artifacts’, which might possibly be the ‘nodes’ in connectivitst terms. The ability to relate and connect the residing knowledge.

1. Learning and knowledge rests in diversity of opinions.

2. Learning is a process of connecting specialized nodes or information sources.

3. Learning may reside in non-human appliances.

4. Learning is more critical than knowing.

5. Maintaining and nurturing connections is needed to facilitate continual learning.

6. Perceiving connections between fields, ideas and concepts is a core skill.

7. Currency (accurate, up-to-date knowledge) is the intent of learning activities.

8. Decision-making is itself a learning process. Choosing what to learn and the meaning of incoming information is seen through the lens of a shifting reality. While there is a right answer now, it may be wrong tomorrow due to alterations in the information climate affecting the decision
