4. Why I am taking the Specialist Diploma: To be equipped with the knowledge of Learning Science to do my work better

5. What I hope to gain from the New Media Pedagogy course: To be aware and to know the use of the new medias for teaching and learning

6. My notes and questions:

• Where does knowledge reside? How do people learn?

• Cognitivism: Knowledge resides within oneself. Learn from thinking, reflections.

  • Constructivism: Knowledge resides within enviornment. Learn through construction (creation) of own's knowledge representations, ie new information is linked to prior knowledge. Experience.

  • Connectivism: Knowledge resides within each other (network - connections with people). Learning through collective knowledge

• What is the link to new media and new media strategies?

The way virtual worlds are used

  • eliminate the need to be at a common place

  • recapture missed points

  • ask questions immediately without interrupting class, possibly more
