FOREWORD / INTRODUCTION

Our children are growing up in a society marked by the intensive use of new technologies and the Internet, a world in which the physical and virtual environment are intertwined in a continuum. The adoption of these technologies by minors occurs at an earlier and earlier age, offering great opportunities for personal and professional development, but also exposing them to their associated risks.

Kids quickly see the benefits of the technologies, which makes them embrace them with great enthusiasm, relying on their skills and experience. At times, this trust is converted into a false sense of security that makes them consider the risks as easily avoidable. In contrast, many of the parents feel overwhelmed by the rapid advance of the digital environment, feeling unsafe at the time to mediate in the education and protection of the child.

That is why, one of the major challenges facing parents today is to promote the safe and responsible use of the network among their children.

Nuestros hijos están creciendo en una sociedad marcada por el uso intensivo de las nuevas tecnologías e Internet, un mundo en el que el entorno físico y el virtual se entremezclan en un continuo. La adopción de estas tecnologías por los menores cada vez se produce a edades más tempranas, ofreciéndoles grandes oportunidades para su desarrollo personal y profesional, pero también exponiéndoles a sus riesgos asociados.

Los chavales ven rápidamente los beneficios de las tecnologías, lo que les hace abrazarlas con gran entusiasmo, confiando en sus habilidades y en su experiencia. En ocasiones, esta confianza se convierte en una falsa sensación de seguridad que les hace considerar los riesgos como fácilmente evitables. En cambio, muchos de los padres se sienten superados por el rápido avance del entorno digital, sintiéndose inseguros a la hora de mediar en la educación y protección del

menor.

Es por ello, que uno de los principales retos a los que se enfrentan los padres hoy en día, es el de fomentar el uso seguro y responsable de la red entre sus hijos.
