Lake Area Bus

Lake Area Bus (LAB) was a Dial-a-Ride bus service providing curb-to-curb transportation to more than 3500 people per month. The several buses service the Greater White Bear Lake area. The Commission was the group that manages the service with the assistance of a part-time coordinator. The budget for LAB was more than $250,000 per year. The Commission worked on a monthly basis with scheduling, press releases, funding (always struggling with cuts to our budget from the Metropolitan Council) and monitoring service. The Commission was made up of two representatives from each of the participating cities. Through this organization, I met many of the local civic leaders.

I served as chair of the Commission for three years. (2004-2007) and as a member (1996-2007).
