Hostas

We discovered, after living in our house, that the only thing that could grow in our front yard was Creeping Charley and moss, AND hostas. I embarked on a five-year project to replace all of the grass in our front yard with hostas. After the third year, people remarked they could see what I was doing, and after five years, passer-byers might agree, the grass was gone. Many years have passed since that five-year project, and I have won seven ribbons at the County Fair for my hosta leaves, including Reserve Grand Champion in the "Cut Flowers" Division. I have around 50-60 different types of hostas. However, I have discovered, the hostaization of our front yard will never be done - I am always adding more types of hosta and moving the ones I have to different locations. It is a lot of fun.

My hosta plan was long-term, persistent, and enjoyable.
