Ignorant human I am ...
Getting news that one is not the size of Texas ... disturbing and as just been said to have not been any larger than it was in the 80's ...but Five of them are not as big as what... where is that data .
A while back the trash Gyre yet alone five of them ...following research from Captain Moore and others along with the 5Gyre Atlantic trip and still are following the story's of the trash islands or trash football fields of plastic more like Trash Hurricanes in my opinion spewing loads of trash debris off into all kinds of currents only to land on land or sink to the trash currents below and awash a shore some where every where .for me truly a on going viscous trash cycle growing and shrinking like a hurricane from evidence of others and aPuzzling conclusion "Trash in our oceans has not been any larger than it was in the 80's"
My research Trash wave 2009 ISD
Words from researchers and from one scientist recently that the Pacific one is not the size of Texas ... maybe so but the ocean and river currents and just rain and snow filtration trash trough the streets as you all know are tremendous impact in the oceans. To me hurricanes of trash is more of a nonrelaxation to the Gyres. From my landlocked view only to have seen in rivers and lakes and oceans at times the real photos and storys tell the real story , video and reports on thus subject the trash Captain Moore says it best "The data is in now lets clean it up" impossible as he says ... yes slim yes sad to say.To stop trash inland and recover off the beach as most realize is the best solution it is the best bet on top of that manufactures and humans realization we are polluting ourselves by not caring about our trash habits .
My first contact with river trash in the ocean was at a young age first time to the ocean exact ,where a river gulf and Gulf Mexico meets and six foot down and as thick or more was a dead zone sticking to my feet ,plastic and who knows what else and how big the under water river of trash was, big enough not seen six feet under water and deeper than that ... that was about 22 years ago.
Jakarta’s rivers: A trash picker looks for plastic materials among the garbage in a river in Pluit, North Jakarta. Most of city’s rivers are still a dumping ground for many people in this overcrowded city.Photo property of JP/Nurhayati"As a bad horror story what lays above and beneath...Trash is money and our waste is deadly "
Under water floating river of trash in depths ,I don't think it is yet discovered and the ocean trash out there only been grazed upon the surface thanks to the knowledge of people like captain Moore GP3, 5Gyres ,Surfrider Foundation ,Surfers Against Sewage and others. So a under water river of trash who knows ,its there I felt it long ago you can see it clear in Jakarta’s rivers ,trash Islands, plastic layered particles in every ocean and trash it all may be found and stopped or at least detained it comes from the drain and it flows that way endless .
