Rumble strips come to Blair Road, Ottawa

Pictures taken Nov 19, 2011. This one from the shoulder side which has yet to be paved.

Rumble strip has been embedded to right of existing roadway pavement.

New shoulder paving will be raised to the height of the rumble strip.

Paved shoulder is to be 2.5m wide including 30cm rumble strip.

Travel lanes will remain 3.5m to 3.75m in width.

Although designated as a shoulder by City staff, it's not clear what the legal situation is for pedestrians for whom this facility was designed.

Ontario's Highway Traffic Act requires pedestrians to face on-coming traffic.

Blair Rd is a bus route however with pedestrians coming and going in both directions.
