Key points

Adding video assets to articles

You can add video assets to articles in 2 ways:

We recommend adding no more than 3 videos to articles.

Avoid 'stacking' videos on top of one another.

Videos are best positioned at the end of sections and above callouts.

Video blurbs can be customised in embeds as required.

Videos: cross-references to content on raisingchildren.net.au

When the exact title of an article, video, illustrated guide or other content is cross-referenced, present the title in sentence case:

View Enough milk, too much milk, expressing: video on raisingchildren.net.au.

When the topic of an article, video, illustrated guide or other content is cross-referenced, present the title in lower case:

View a video about milk and expressing on raisingchildren.net.au.

View a video on enough milk, too much milk and expressing on raisingchildren.net.au.

Videos: names and affiliations of professionals, parents and children

Present the names and affiliations of parents, professionals and children as per the following examples:

Yasna Blandin de Chalain

Child and family health nurse, counsellor

Simone

Australian Breastfeeding Association counsellor, lactation consultant

Rebecca

Mother of 2, daughter Sarah (8 years) has Pallister-Killian syndrome

Videos: number style

Use our general rules on numbers. For example:

Fiona

Mother of 3, Archie (4 years) is autistic

Videos: number style for ages

Present the ages of all children in numerals (not in words), whether above or below 10:

Emma

Mother of Jack (10 months)

Alicia

Mother of Bethany (6 years), Jesse (4 years) and Susie (11 months)

Videos: occupational titles

Present general occupational descriptions in sentence case:

Renee Kam

Lactation consultant

Present organisation-specific titles in sentence case:

Susan Smith

Professor of Linguistics, University of the Blue Mountains

Derek McCormack

Director, Raising Children Network

Note that onscreen copy should use the person’s specific job description or title, even when that is inconsistent with house style. For example, use ‘maternal and child health nurse’ (specific description, relevant to Victoria) rather than ‘child and family health nurse’ (RCN house style) is appropriate.

Videos: organisational name

Present the title of our organisation as raisingchildren.net.au, unless otherwise advised.

Videos: punctuation

Punctuate full sentences as usual, with a capital at the beginning and a full stop at the end:

Phone the Australian Breastfeeding Association Helpline on 1800 686 268.

Punctuate sentence fragments without a full stop at the end:

Mother of 3 children, Archie (4 years) has autism spectrum disorder

Videos: titles

Present titles of videos in sentence case:

Getting a diagnosis under DSM-5

How to breastfeed

Breastfeeding positions
