 The QWI Cairn

The QWI Cairn was installed at Dunham, the birthplace of the Quebec Women's Institutes.

On July 15, 1964, a special ceremony was held at Dunham when the plaque was unveiled by Mrs. McElroy, Charter Member of Dunham WI. Mrs. Gordon Brown, daughter of Mrs. Beach, read the minutes of the first meeting and Mrs. Harvey gave a history of the WI. Greetings were given from Mr. Glendon Brown, M.L.A., Mr. J. J. Bertrand, M.P.P.Q.C., Mme P. C. LeBeau, Department of Agriculture and representative from the Historic Sites and Monuments Board. Read more.

The village of Dunham is celebrating 150 years this year, as the first township in the Eastern Townships. The QWI, Mrs. Beach and the QWI cairn were mentioned prominently in the newsletter, Quoi de neuf, April 12, 2017. More (French only).

The Quebec Farmers Advocate has offered to publish articles submitted by QWI, its Counties and Branches!

The February 2017 edition covers the 70th Anniversary of Fordyce Branch, Missisquoi County.
