The QWI Cairn

The QWI Cairn was installed at Dunham, the birthplace of the Quebec Women's Institutes.

On July 15, 1964, a special ceremony was held at Dunham when the plaque was unveiled by Mrs. McElroy, Charter Member of Dunham WI. 

Mrs. Gordon Brown, daughter of Mrs. Beach, read the minutes of the first meeting and Mrs. Harvey gave a history of the WI. 

Greetings were given from Mr. Glendon Brown, M.L.A., Mr. J. J. Bertrand, M.P.P.Q.C., Mme P. C. LeBeau, Department of Agriculture and representative from the Historic Sites and Monuments Board. Read more.

Quebec Tartan

The Minister of Canadian Heritage officially declared April 6 as 'National Tartan Day' .

In 2003 the Quebec National Assembly officially recognized Tartan Day, celebrated April 6.

Linda Janes Ryan, president of Chateauguay-Huntingdon County is working with her MNA office to have Quebec officially recognize the Quebec Tartan. 

On February 17, 2022 the petitions, English and French were tabled on the floor of the National Assembly.
