You likely received a letter sometime in the last month titled “Toussaint Creek Petition Project” stating that your home’s parcel is to be included in an assessment of $25 for clearing log jams from the Toussaint Creek. We (the HOA) wanted to make sure you are aware of this and to share the information that we have learned about it so far.
There is some conflicting information out though on whether houses in the Quail Hollow neighborhood should be included in this assessment. Per the maps available here: http://dmds.maumeerap.org/ the line is anything east of Haskins Rd. Though according to the maps available here http://tinyurl.com/zbksm6c houses around Quail Hollow, Sandpiper, Sparrow, and Raven do drain east towards Toussaint. Additionally it is likely that you have been paying a small assessment for maintenance on the Bellville ditch which would imply that your house drains to the west not to the east.
The letter requests that any objections to the assessment be mailed to them on or before January 31st. Each homeowner affected will need to send in their own objection if they wish to contest this assessment.
We have been in contact with Ottawa and Wood County, and we know there were some errors on the Belleville assessment map, which wood county is now working on addressing. We will continue to push to gather an accurate understanding of where each parcel in the subdivision drains and will update the website with any new information.
Thank You,
Chris, Erika, Josh, and Mark
