Dear Neighbors,
After an extremely heavy downpour this afternoon we are facing water in the streets, and in some places, water in our basements. We wanted to get in touch to let everyone know where things stand with the HOA and the ponds.
Currently Gearhart's crew is in the neighborhood using auxiliary pumps to work to help move water. As those who live near the ditches know, they are full, so there are few options on places to push water right now. Its simply a matter of physics and the stream network being overloaded due to the nature of the storm we just had. After taking a quick drive around, the water in the streets seems to be receding, but Poe road is closed and the water in the retention ponds is still rising. Obviously the rain we got was more intense than a typical storm, and is something more than the system is designed to handle well. We are expecting more rain yet tonight, we hope the ditches can drain down a bit and the extra pumps can help alleviate some of the problems before we see the next round.
Going forward, we have a quote from Gearhardt for work needed to get backlogged maintenance done. We have been working to get a second quote so we can be sure we are getting the work done at a reasonable price. We hope to have the majority of the work done to the system this summer, and pay for it over the next 3 years.
We know this isn't the situation any of you wanted to see. We are your neighbors and volunteers. We are doing our very best to deal with this situation as well as we can with the limited resources we have. A few of us are facing water in our basements as we speak and the rest are keeping a close eye on things tonight as things progress. Hopefully we see limited additional rainfall.
Thank you,
Coby, Chris, Mark, Mike H, MaryAnn, and Mike B
