In 2007, the first three books were released in special paperback editions. These new editions were designed to mimic Victorian "penny dreadful" novels. They contained new illustrations and cover art by Brett Helquist, as well as an appendix created for each book titled "The Cornucopian Cavalcade". The Cornucopian Cavalcade contained a humorous Lemony Snicket advice column, obscure vintage advertisements, a serialized graphic novel titled "The S'Poily Brats" by Michael Kupperman, and mildly amusing activities such as paper-folding. To promote the new editions, HarperCollins created a new sub-section of lemonysnicket.com, called "Now in Paperback".
The website included a book trailer, samplers for The Cornucopian Cavalcade and The S'Poily Brats , and an entry form for readers to submit questions to Mr. Snicket's advice column.
