Steve showed the updated version of his Wemos D1 baseboard, called the "Wifi Platform".
Additional to sockets for the Wemos D1 & breakout headers the board also supports
UPS with LiPo charger & battery and power path modification for the TP4056 charger.
Battery voltage monitoring
MOSFET switch cuts all power to 3.3V. Software control of MOSFET.
I2C connector for OLED displays
On board DHT temperature & humidity sensor
TPL5010 micro power auto wake up IC. Timer duration set by resistors, 170K = 2hrs.

Photo below shows the version 1 board with the version 2 design modifications hand wired. The new design was fully tested before releasing the new PCB for manufacture.
