Programming : (Anthony)
Anthony discussed some of the trends in programming language evolution and usage, using the TIOBE website as the reference point.
Several languages were discussed, most notably Python, which is seeing rapid growth in several fields,
most notably in the data science, and Internet of Things realms.
Nerf : (Alex)
"Modify a Nerf Laser Ops Pro Gun V2" where the original laser tag functionality of the Nerf gun is preserved in addition to new sound effects.
Electronics Project construction : (Andrew)
The pictures show an
example of how densely packed a one-off project can be when Verowire
is used. Much the same as for a printed circuit. In this TAD
(Technical Aid to the Disabled) 1985 build an RCA1802 and GI-SP0256A
phoneme voice synthesiser are used. The small battery powered device
could be worn on a belt and uses a few buttons and an earphone
audible scanner to allow a person who cannot speak to assemble words
and phrases into a sentence and respond with a one watt synthetic
voice via two LM386 amplifiers that drive an 8 ohm speaker. The bus
is 8 bits wide and connects four memory chips and a parallel port
device to the microcontroller, so a lot of wiring was needed.
