Bilge pump

Bilge pump

OperationThe electric bilge pump was standard on many models 1996-2004. The bilge pump is designed to run when the engine is running, and shut off when the engine stops. Most 1997-2004 models have a Bilge button on the handlebar while runs the bile pump even if the engine is off.The bilge pump has Orange (power) and Orange/Black (Ground) wires. Inside the electrical box there is a short 3 Amp fuse (AGW type) that only supplies the bilge pump. If this fuse fails the bilge pump will not run, even if you press the Bilge button. When the engine is running the LR module supplies power to the Orange terminal block. From there the 3 Amp fuse delivers power to the Orange wire running to the bilge pump.Polaris uses Rule brand bilge pumps which are rated for continuous operation even when dry (no water in the bilge). If the bilge pump fails, replace with another Rule pump.

Tip: Test the bilge pump by tipping the front of the trailer up, then put a couple of inches of water inside the hull. The bilge pump should be able to pump the water out fairly quickly.

The Rule pumps are usually either 500 GPH (Gallons Per Hour) or 360

Note that the water hose from the bilge pump runs through a plastic elbow fitting. It is important that this elbow be mounted high in the hull, well above the water line. This prevents outside water from flowing backwards through the bilge pump and into the hull.
