Battery

The battery is typically mounted in the rear of the hull on the side opposite the exhaust water box. It is important that the battery provide reliable starting power while you are on the water.

The wire connections to the battery posts must be clean, tight, and not frayed or damaged. The battery itself must be firmly strapped down or bolted into place. When you are riding on rough water the battery must not be able to bounce, flop or bang around.

The best battery for PWC use is a factory sealed AGM type battery. Two well regarded brands are Odyssey PC625 and East-Penn Deka ETX16LM, and there are others. Sealed AGM batteries are preferred over the cheaper lead-acid and even over the Gel type batteries.
