2012-2013 through 2013-2014: University of New Mexico NCAA D1 (Mountain West Conference)

sophomore season at the University of New Mexico under head coach Steve Alford.  Merv helped the Lobos to a record of 27-7 and a Mountain West Conference Championship while seeing action in 20 games including an NCAA Tournament game against Stanford...redshirted the 2012-13 season at UNM when the Lobos also won the Mountain West.

2011-2012: University of Kansas NCAA-D1 (Big12 Conference) 

freshman season at Kansas University under head coach Bill Self, 2011-12, a season in which the Jayhawks won a Big XII Championship and reached the NCAA National Championship game.
