Robert K. Carrol
Robert Carrol is a partner in the Arent Fox's Labor and Employment and Alcohol Beverage practice groups. Rob’s labor and employment clients are companies of all sizes and industries, from Silicon Valley startups to Fortune 200 companies, mostly from the agriculture, alcohol beverage, food, manufacturing and solid waste disposal sectors.
Rob’s practice also focuses on global beverage and alcohol matters, representing wine, craft beer and spirits producers, importers, and distributors.
Mr. Carrol advises and represents both suppliers and distributors of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages in the establishment, maintenance, and termination of beverage distribution relationships and in the resolution of issues that may arise in such relationships. Mr. Carrol is fluent in Spanish, French, and Modern Greek.
Mr. Carrol also advises, represents and, trains clients in various areas of employment and labor law, including wrongful termination, employment discrimination and harassment, union elections, collective bargaining, arbitrations, ADA Title III access, trade secrets and restrictive covenants, wage/hour, and agricultural labor cases throughout the United States. He has represented all types of employers in federal and state court litigation and before various federal and state administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, United States Department of Labor, California Agricultural Labor Relations Board, and California Labor Commission. He has also successfully argued cases before the United States, California, and Washington State courts of appeal and the California Supreme Court.
Mr. Carrol has been recognized for exceptional standing in the legal community in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2009 for Labor & Employment work.
Prior to Arent Fox, Mr Carrol was the chair of the prestigious global Law Firm of Nixon Peabody LLP’s western United States Labor and Employment law practice and the leader for the firm's Beverage Alcohol Group. He is also a member of Nixon Peabody’s Diversity Action Committee.
Mr. Carrol was also part of a group of lawyers who were instrumental in the founding of the Agent Certification program administered by the National Basketball Players' Association in the mid-1980s to raise the level of competence and professionalism of those desiring to represent NBA players. Over the years, Carrol has insisted that P2W be kept at a boutique size and has chosen only to represent players who demonstrate a commitment to professionalism both on and off the court and unselfish service to their families and communities.
