Water Bath

This was a relatively small project to be used for testing the anodising of small parts used in the aviation industry. The system was to heat a water bath to 96 degrees C, and maintain that temperature (+/- 2 degrees) throughout the 45 minute test period.

Our customer designed the bath and control system, but due to time restraints asked PJC Systems for some assistance with writing (and proving) the software.

The PLC was a Mitsubishi FX3G, with a Mitsubishi GT2104 HMI

The water heating was by means of a single phase immersion heater switched via a solid state relay.

The plc monitored the water temperature, along with the temperature probe and heater connections. It powered the heater via a custom written algorithm to maintain the correct water temperature.

The specification was that the temperature had to be maintained within 2 degrees C, but the reality was that it was controlled well within 1 degree C.

PJC Systems were more than happy to help develop the system at our customer's premises, which is relatively close to our own. Some of the smaller jobs can be more enjoyable than the larger projects. We are happy to handle the whole range of systems.
