SCADA

Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition

SCADA or Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition provides the potential for a high level of interaction with PLC based systems. PJC Systems supply SCADA where appropriate to the application or when required as an alternative to HMIs either because of the features required or when specified.

The advancement in HMIs in recent years reduces the need of a SCADA package in many applications.

HMIs are now able to provide many of the features we relied on SCADA systems for in the past.

This type of control interface tends to be implemented on larger systems or when integration into an existing structure is required. PJC Systems currently has a number of sites with SCADA; typical examples being the control of a dual mixer PVC plants where the formulation, monitoring, control, recipe handling, data collection and report generation are implemented by a PLC/SCADA package using custom graphics. Batch by batch required and actual recipe data is stored to disk (in Excel format) for periodic retrieval. Trend graphs are used to monitor various process and maintenance features such as temperatures, currents, bearing condition, etc.

As with our HMI applications, PJC Systems recognises the importance of making the operation of system interfaces as clear and ‘friendly’ as possible whilst still providing the necessary information and control. We believe that we supply a high quality of design and presentation to achieve these aims.
