Assessment

Unit Assessments

· Each unit includes a variety of assessments. Assessments in Desmos are designed for students to show what they know and can do as they engage in the process of learning new concepts and skills.

·Cool Down

o After each lesson students demonstrate understanding of the days topic by completing a short question distributed online. Teachers may respond to the group or individual based on the Cool Down.

· Chapter Quizzes

o Students refer to chapter quizzes as ‘Target Practices’.

o These quizzes are designed to show how well a student is doing on the learning target for each chapter.

o Students must show proficiency on each learning goal (a score of 3 or greater on a 1-4 scale).

o Students may retake these quizzes in the scope of the unit of study.

§ Before the retake students reflect on their mistake and demonstrate a new understanding of the concept.

o There are typically 2 to 3 quizzes per unit.

· Unit Test

o Students will refer to their unit tests as COLs, or ‘Celebrations of Learning’.

o This test is a culmination of all learning throughout the unit. The test is designed to have a one-to-one correspondence with the learning targets covered in the daily lessons.

o Students only have one opportunity to take the Unit Test. There are no retakes.
