Positive & Negative Numbers

In this unit, students explore positive and negative numbers in several contexts: on a number line, represented as inequalities, and in the coordinate plane.

Section 1: Negative Numbers and Absolute Values (Lessons 1–5 + Practice Day + Quiz)

• Describe locations on the number line using positive and negative numbers.

• Compare and order positive and negative numbers and absolute values.

Section 2: Inequalities (Lessons 6–8)

• Represent inequalities using symbols, words, and graphs.

• Identify solutions to inequalities.

Section 3: The Coordinate Plane (Lessons 9–12 + Practice Day)

• Solve problems by graphing points with positive and negative coordinates.

• Draw polygons given coordinates for the vertices.
