Hand-Held Starlight Scene Mode
This is quite an interesting SCN Mode. The manual says:
In [Hand-Held Starlight], 8 frames are shot at one time and then combined. When the image quality mode is [RAW], a JPEG image is combined with the fi rst RAW image and recorded in RAW+JPEG.
From my casual testing.
The ISO is automatically set high - in a dim room, it was ISO 12,800 and not manually adjustable
Aperture was set to the largest on on the lens and not adjustable
Exposure Compensation was set -0.3 and not adjustable
WB was not adjustable
Sequential speed was set to High and not adjustable
Metering Area was set to Matrix and not adjustable
Picture Mode was set to Vivid and not adjustable
A & G adjustments were and not adjustable
Contrast was set to -2 and not adjustable
Saturation was set to -1 and not adjustable
Gradation was set to Normal not adjustable
What was manually adjustable was:
File format - type of JPEG and raw
Face Detection
Image Stabilisation
Aspect Ratio
Fn button assignments
AF Point - default - all AF points
If you made adjustments and turned the dial away from SCENE, the adjustments would be lost.
These settings and adjustments were available because I enabled SCP (Super Control Panel) previously when the Mode Dial is in any of
P A S M.
To reach Live SCP -
Switch to SCN using the Mode Dial (of course).
You will be displaying the SCN Menu or you can press the Ok button at the back of the camera to display the SCN Menu.
Press the INFO button when you are looking at the SCN Menu and the screen will toggle to the Super Control Panel (SCP).
