Shooting Movies

Although the Olympus E-M1 has superb body Image Stabilisation, even in video mode, many owners use it for stills work and don't know video very well.

When you are shooting stills in P A S or M, you can at any time, press the red Rec button to start recording a video. When you engage video shooting in this mode, you don't have control of special effects for the video.

When you switch to Video Mode on the PASM dial (the icon with the movie camera), the Liveview / EVF will display a row of icons at the bottom of the screen. There does not appear to be a Super Control Panel so you have to use this icon bar / menu.

From left to right, the icons are:

These are all choices you can make before you start the movie. Also before you start the movie you can choose:

    • Menu Cog I. Movie properties

      • P A S or M

      • AF method

    • Front and Rear Dials for Exposure Compensation and adjustment parameters for P A S M

As usual, INFO will toggle display of histogram, level indicators and so on.
