Art Filters (E-M1)

Art Filters can be activated by:

Rotating the P A S M dial to Art Filters

Using the SCP (Super Control Panel) or the Camera Gear 1 > Picture Mode

Choosing Camera 2 Menu, choose Bracketing, set the other bracketing options to null but choose Art Bracketing. When you choose Art Bracketing On, you have another level of submenu. This new level of submenu offers a checklist of which Art Filters you want to use in the set.

  1. If you use this method, you can adjust exposure, other parameters - you need to press the INFO button to switch to the Super Control Panel when you are viewing the Art Filters catalogue.

  2. Note: The SCP must not be disabled previously (see Cog D > Control Settings > Art Filter > enable both the Art Filter menu and SCP.

  3. You have Liveview during aiming, showing the look that your currently selected Art Filter looks like.

  4. You can opt for Art Filter 15 - Art Bracket

  5. If you use this method, you can adjust tonal parameters EV Comp, Shadows + Highlights Control, Color Creator, Aspect Ratio.

  6. You have Liveview during sighting, showing the look that your currently selected Art Filter looks like.

  7. If you use this method, you can adjust tonal parameters EV Comp, Shadows + Highlights Control, Color Creator, Aspect Ratio. But when you adjust, you are sighting the scene using the currently selected Picture Mode not all the other Art Filters in the Bracket.

Images using Art Filters can also be produced by taking the Olympus .ORF raw file and processing it in Olympus Viewer - this software knows each Olympus camera and will offer the range of Art Filters relevant to each different model of camera.

You can even use Olympus Art Filters on any photo on your mobile device with OI Share app (available from Android Play Store or iTunes for IOS devices), but of course the source data doesn't start from raw. For people who don't have an Olympus camera with Art Filters, you can play with Art Filters anytime, anyway now.

For those with an Olympus camera with Art Filters, you can shoot an Art Filter JPEG, get it onto your mobile device (could use OIShare to wirelessly transfer from your camera) and since it is a JPEG, you could layer another Art Filter on top of the first one. No, it's not like Photoshop Touch but it's not as complicated either. And it's free.

The Art Filter in EXIF

I recently shot a bracket of Art Filter shots (easy to do with ART BKT) and could not figure out which Art Filter I used.

The Art Filter is saved in the MakerNotes of EXIF.
