North East of England Philatelic Association
The Society was one of the three earliest societies formed in the region, with an inaugural meeting being held in March 1926. A junior section was launched later the same year. In 1929, the Society staged a Postage Stamp Exhibition of over 130 frames. At this stage the Society had a membership of 33 adults with over 130 juniors being involved in various schools in the town. The Society has hosted the NEPA convention several times, the most recent being in 1986.
