Suggested Pathways TEAM SOS NJ - Dragon Boat Equipment Check list
(10/8/14, rev 10/14-20).
CLIMATE:
Prepare for hot humid AND cool weather.
Weather forecast: Friday-Sunday = Plenty of Sun
RACE CLOTHING and EQUIPMENT:
TEAM Uniform: team SOS racing shirt, navy/dark shorts
Parade COSTUME!! (cape, scull cap, good walking foot wear)
Black SOS shirt for Thursday practice (old shirt, Michele has new ones for those who don't have one: Anne, Caye, Henrietta, Ingrid, Kelly, Maria, Sally, Val)
White SOS shirt or any White T for Friday practice
HAT/VISOR and SUN GLASSES are a must to wear at all times (as suggested by our SNOW BIRDS...Jersey folks who live in Florida during the winter!).
rain gear/jacket/pants (to stay warm in between races)
bandanna, great to help cool you down when soaked and worn around your neck.
slippers (for between race rests), sandals...they have a beach
bathing suit (for hotel pool)
race gear: gloves, water shoes, seat cushion, hat, sunglasses, bug spray, sun screen
Your typical race day munchies/energy bars/drinks/gels...etc. Bring whatever you can from home, to make your away race experience - "just like at home" (OR send an email to ellen for items you want purchased on the Friday food run)
paddle/NRS pfd - distributed at Event parking lot on Thursday and collected after last Sunday races
resting mat/towel (from hotel is ok too)
small locks to close your gear bag on race days
navy/dark pants/shorts (for opening ceremonies)
STUFF TO PACK:
Hotel phone number
personal medication (aspirin, advil...etc), anti-cold stuff
a listing of your medical requirements
small trinket trades. Michele agreed to give 1 white SOS pin for each member who doesn't have one. Pam will have the new black ones at $3 each. great for trading. anything unique to NJ that may be interesting to other states.

credit card
extra batteries or charger for your camera
binoculars, flashlight
copies of your airline ticket(s), credit cards, driver's license, and other documents you plan to carry with you. Store these records in a separate place from the originals to expedite the replacement process
CARRY ONs:
carry on stuff you can't afford to lose...check the rest.
PACK your required team uniforms, medicine, favorite shirt/shorts.
Flashlight
Your "special pillow" or other bed-gear to ensure restful sleep!
Make sure your electronics are fully charged if you are taking them "CARRY ON".
PAM is bringing among her carry ON, 1 large bag of veggie straws and pretzel chips for folks to satisfy your "in flight munchies". Remember - no snacks served on any of your flights. OK to bring food, DO not bring liquids.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON RACE DAY:
2 races per day day. So plan your clothing accordingly, as in ponchos, towels to stay warm between races.
3-4 hour break between races
Lots of vendors, festivities, lots of spectators
Lots of team flags, pins, giveaways, team trading shirts, and spirit
event provides buffet lunch each race day.
there will be several wellness activities planned two times each day. these are free.
