Several comprehensive references have been very helpful in creating this site. These references are recommended for further reading on networking or IT security.
General Reference
Although Wikipedia is to be avoided as an academic reference, in practice it provides the most conveniently available body of general reference material on numerous topics. In preparing this site, Wikipedia was consulted on every topic. However, the goal was not to replicate Wikipedia. Rather, the goal was to be much more selective than the typical Wikipedia article is. The articles in this site are less comprehensive than Wikipedia but more detailed than dictionary entries. When more depth of topic coverage is desired than is featured here, a Wikipedia search on the topic is recommended as one approach. However, in no case has Wikipedia been used as a sole source for anything featured here, nor is it recommended that Wikipedia ever be used as a sole source. Rather, because Wikipedia is the most universally available body of general reference information, one should be aware of what it says on a topic, but one should also dig deeper to discover more primary or authoritative sources.
