Tool

Used by the author as a generic term encompassing ideas such as technology, technique, device, equipment, software, configuration, or setting. Tools are tactical in nature. Tools are means to an end. The effectiveness of tools can be rated based on how well they deliver performance based on some particular metric or standard.

In the author's system, tool is used in contrast to the word strategy. Tools, in general, refer to particular implementations of higher level strategies. Some specific technologies that fall under the category of tools include:
