Network throughput is measured in some multiple of bits per second (bps). Typical such measures include kilobits per second (kbs), megabits per second (Mbps), and gigabits per second (Gbps).
Notice that throughput is measured specifically in bit terms (not byte terms). Also, note that in contrast to measures of storage capacity, there is no rounding for network throughput. Consider these contrasting values:
