Surfaces with Knotted Boundary
We’ll discuss surfaces, like the sphere or the surface of a torus, which are 2-dimensional objects. A knotted circle (or a “knot”) in 3-space always bounds a surface (e.g. the round circle bounds a disk). We’ll investigate how to produce a surface with boundary any knot we want.
We validate campus parking and provide dinner, and participants earn CPE hours for this workshop.
Register by noon on 11/29 here.
Free parking is provided in the Speedway Garage (SWG). Enter the garage on Speedway, between Dean Keaton and 27th street. Pull a ticket when you enter the garage. We will give participants cards to exit.
