"How to Mathematically Immerse Yourself in a Perspective Drawing"

When strolling around a museum, you have probably seen works of art that create a realistic sense of space. Many of these works are done using linear perspective, using the geometry behind projecting the three dimensional world onto a two dimensional canvas. A secret that most people don’t know is that you can often find clues in a painting to determine exactly where to stand to maximize the illusion of depth. We’ll learn the mathematics behind finding this special viewpoint and try it out on a few examples, including one from the Blanton Museum.

Dr. Fumiko Futamura from Southwestern University will lead our October 2022 session!

We validate campus parking, provide dinner, and participants earn CPE hours for this workshop.

Please register by noon on October 26 as dinner is provided for participants.
