Spring 2022 MTCA Workshop #1

Exploring Mathematical Thinking through Paper-folding

Thursday, February 24, 2022

6-8 pm

PMA 12.166

Altha Rodin will lead our February 2022 session.

Paper-folding can be used not only for entertainment, but also in the classroom to give students hands-on experience with concepts like angles, area, symmetry, and fractions, just to name a few. In addition, there is quite a bit of spatial reasoning and problem-solving involved in constructing an object from paper without scissors and tape.

In this talk, we are going to use paper-folding in a different way: To illustrate mathematical thinking when confronted by a complex problem.

We validate campus parking, provide dinner, and participants earn CPE hours for this workshop.

Please register by February 22 as dinner is provided for participants.
