Weapon Types

Fully Automatic

Shotgun

Standard Vulcan

Most commonly seen on the Gouf, the vulcan and its variants are probably the lowest damaging gun in the game. However, it is an ideal secondary weapon for finishing off low health enemies. In addition, vulcans are usually internal weapons, meaning there is no weapon switch time, further reinforcing its role as a secondary weapon.

Standard Machine Gun

The standard machine gun with balanced performance and with a good clip size. You'll find this as a default option on almost all OYW grunt suits. Note: Only the Early GM and Zaku I 100mm and 105mm machine guns, respectively, are training-type.

Improved Standard Machine Gun

The successor to the Zaku machine gun, the damage is slightly higher. However, the increased accuracy gives the MMP-80 a niche as a competent mid-range weapon where beam rifles lose their accuracy to bullet scatter.

Shield Gatling

The signature weapon of the Gouf Custom, while still being eclipsed by the beam rifle, the gatling is still a decent primary weapon owing to its clip size. The gatling will deal a lot of damage if you manage to survive long enough to expend the entire clip. However, the low lock-on, reload, and accuracy of the gatling makes it a rather unforgiving weapon to use.

3-Point Burst

Shotgun

Standard Machine Gun

The 3-point burst machine gun is semi-automatic, but fires 3 rounds per shot allowing it to fire faster than the fully automatic version. In addition, it boasts better all around performance than the fully automatic version. The drawback is that low clip size means it'll often take two or three clips to kill an enemy. Recommended you use this option whenever available.

Semi-Automatic

Shotgun

Shotguns are currently the Zeon weapon of choice for close-quarters combat and can even perform decently at medium range given the right upgrades. Deadly in close quarters, shotguns shoot 5 bullets per shot so the damage number is multiplied by 5. If all 5 shots hit, there is a good chance of knocking down an airborne target. They are also capable of staggering opponents preventing them from reacting properly. Note that shotguns do have a rate of fire, but that it cannot be upgraded. For Federation shotguns, see Beam Spray Gun.

Improved Shotgun

Support Shotgun

Shotguns for mobile suits that cost less than 240. They generally just deal less damage than the Shotgun, but mostly the same attributes apply.

Standard Machine Gun Ver. 1

The semi-automatic machine gun is an underrated weapon and is a viable alternative to the semi-automatic beam rifle for mobile suits which do not have access to beam weaponry. In fact, the Type-F does as much damage as a regular beam rifle. However, there is no Beam Shooter passive equivalent for machine guns, the hit box of bullets are much smaller than beams, and the rate of fire is a bit low. Still worth giving a try.

Think of these as beam rifles that sacrifice some damage for more accuracy. They are somewhat hampered by a low rate of fire, however.

Standard Sniper Rifle

Standard sniper rifle with high damage, long range, but a long reload time. Type-F will cause stagger and even knockdown enemies with low balance making it the variant of choice. Shooting someone in the air will result in a certain knockdown unless their shield takes the hit. Popular builds are to combine the Quick Reload passive with the Type-F upgraded for Reload in order to knockdown enemies and finish them off before they can get back up. The B3 fires 3 rounds in quick succession. Combined with a low reload time, this rifle has the highest damage output amongst standard sniper rifles. In addition, landing all 3 rounds can result in a stagger or knockdown. However, there is a large amount of recoil making all 3 rounds hard to land.
