Molineaux Webb: 1894-1902

The design sketch differs from the eventual registered object. The sketch does not include the three lines running around the outside of the base of the item, and the flat square & rectangular panels were drawn on the outer crinkled rim, rather than on the base. This piece is unusual for Molineaux Webb in that we have an example with electroplate, and an example in coloured glass. Very little coloured pressed glass has been found for Molineaux Webb - when used it tends to be on the ornamental pieces. Electroplate items are commonly found for Percival & Vickers but very few for Molineaux Webb.
This piece appears to be an ashtray - the example I have was certainly used as such.

This is the last full set of glassware registered by the company, all items using the pattern you can see on the dishes below. In total there are 24 items drawn, though four of them are crossed out in red ink. The deleted items were an ink stand, a gas shade, and two electric shades.
The 20 submitted items were an oval dish, a round dish, a salt cellar, jam dish, two sugar basins, a cream jug, comport, celery, butter dish, salad bowl, three pickle jars, three jam pots, a cruet, a pepper, and a mustard.

This is listed as a vase in Jenny Thompson's book on English Pressed Glass but it looks more like a light shade, with a wide hole at the top. The bottom is cut to a star point. The body has a similar swirly petal flower pattern as on the next registration, 271700.

The last liquor holder registration, this is a long and narrow shape, vaguely rectangular, with curved corners and slightly wider at the bottom. It has a hole at the top for filling up and a small circle drawn near the bottom, probably for a tap attachment.

A cut glass imitation lamp shade. It has a wide hole at the top with some horizontal oval markings around the top rim. The main body is imitation cut. The base tapers to a star shape design. Overall it is the same shape as 269113.
