In a sense, weapon type does not matter, there are slight bonuses to each weapon type, and you'll find as you level that an axe will have the stats you want, while next quest it will be a club.

At 130 end-game each weapon type comes with different stats, so a club might not have the stats you want, while the dagger does. Each race does have different damage bonuses that you can trait, but as a ranged class this doesn't matter much.

In case you wanted to know, here are the bonus breakdown to weapon types.

Axe - Deducts the armor rating of the mob you are attacking

Club - Slows the mob in movement speed by 20%

Dagger - 1% Auto-attack Critical Hit Chance

Hammer - Hinders the mobs ability to Evade attacks by 1%

Mace - Slows the mob in movement speed by 20%

Spear - 1% chance to apply a bleed of damage over 15s

Sword - Your Parry chance is slightly increased
