Chester Chaste (Laurel) is a cab driver who takes Madame Ritz and her “young child” to a steamship, but ends up accidentally stowing away along with his cab. Chester is given a choice between working as a steward or being thrown overboard, so he goes to work under the cynical eye of Purser Cryder (Hardy). Meanwhile Madame Ritz is planning to commit jewel robberies aboard the ship and Chester discovers the secret of Madame Ritz's "baby."
