Stan and Ollie work as chauffer and gardener for Daniel, a very rich man whose family look upon as physically weak and generally unwell. When Daniel is drafted into the Army, Stan and Ollie join up too so they can protect their ‘fragile’ employer. However, Daniel thrives on Army life and soon finds romance too. It’s not so easy for Stan and Ollie under the scrutiny of an overbearing sergeant and out on manoeuvres, but with the help of Daniel and Penelope (Stan’s pet crow) they finally come out on top.
