BATTLE OF THE CENTURY
Initially the big fight is a boxing match (Stan is the boxer, Ollie is his manager) but Ollie’s focus shifts when he takes out an insurance policy against his boxer being injured. Ollie sees a way to cash in on the policy if he can induce an accident but his efforts lead to the real battle involving more than a few pies …
NIGHT OWLS
Officer Edgar Kennedy must make an arrest or face the sack after a string of unsolved burglaries on his beat. When he finds Stan and Ollie sleeping on a park bench he makes them an offer they can’t refuse and they set out to burgle a house so that the inept cop can make the arrest to save his job.
This includes some of James Finlayson’s biggest and best-ever double-takes - note his reaction to the Boys' efforts to convince people in the house it is cats wailing in the garden!
THEIR FIRST MISTAKE
Once again Ollie’s wife has had enough of Stan’s presence but Stan advises Ollie to adopt a baby giving Mrs Hardy something to do while he and Ollie go out. Ollie agrees it’s a good plan but when the Boys arrive home with a baby, Mrs Hardy has already left and is filing for divorce. Stan and Ollie are literally left holding the baby …
SCRAM!
In-between jobs and in trouble for sleeping on a park bench, the Boys are up before the judge on a vagrancy charge. They are given an hour to get out of town - how then do they end up in the judge’s house, wearing his pyjamas and on his bed with his wife who has had too much to drink?
The cost of the evening was £3 for members (£4 for non-members - including lifetime
membership to the Men o' War Tent) and £2 for under age 16 years.
The usual tea/coffee/soft drinks and biscuits were be provided for the break.
Please feel free to bring your own extra refreshments (including alcoholic drinks)
