Dr. John Boggess IV was raised in Guntersville and went to Guntersville schools through 8th grade. He then attended Sewanee Military Academy and played sports all four years there in high school. He then returned home to Guntersville in 1983 after finishing medical school and residency. In 1983, he began serving as team physician for Guntersville. His father Dr. John Boggess III had previously served as team physician. Forty years later, Dr. Boggess IV is still on the sideline as team physician alongside his nephew Dr. Wade Edwards. Dr. Boggess also began sideline reporting for WTWX more than 20 years ago, and he continues that today. Dr. Boggess also served on the Guntersville City Board of Education for 15 years.
