Percy Lee

Coach Percy Edward Lee came to Guntersville in 1948, with head coach Joe Chorba, as the assistant football coach and head baseball coach. Lee had been a big slugger for the Crimson Tide Baseball Team, lettering both his junior and senior years.

Coach Lee helped develop the greatest era in Wildcat football history. The stadium bears the name Chorba-Lee for these legendary coaches. Coach Lee became director of Guntersville Recreation starting the first summer program in 1955-1961.

Lee’s career as an administrator included principal of Carlisle Park and DAR. Lee served as vocational counselor with the Marshall County Board of Education, assistant director of student financial aid at the University of Alabama, and director of the Marshall County Technical School.

Coach Lee, a great coach, administrator and citizen, is also a proud father. His son, Andy, serves as Guntersville City Schools Superintendent.
