Meeting Minutes

January 31, 2014

Opening

The official meeting of the MCC Pre-Med Club was called to order at 1:35pm on January 31, 2014 in LS 108 by Chris Valentin, President.

Present

Chris Valentin, Nicole Erjavic, Shoshone Hayes, Kenneth Klein, Alexis Pawlak, Ariel Smith, Abdirahman Hassan, Neal Glover, Nathan Glover, Chelsea Ward, Brandt Hansen, Alheli Jacquez, Rachel Mitchell, Alexander Callos, and Lewis Obermiller

Current News

Nicole presented on Genetic Disorder in lung cancer and on Microsaphaly.

Senate Report

President’s council meets February 7th, Out of State Funds are at $0

Open Issues

§ Volunteering: Gemini Hospice LLC-contact Renee Bioletto who is their Volunteer Coordinator at 602-931-8297 and mention your with the MCC Pre-Med Club.

§ Kenneth Klein has been voted in as Treasurer and Karina Aguilar has been voted in as Alternate Senator.

§ Trips: Touro University is from April 3rd – 6th. Van holds 11 students plus Dr. Obermiller. We have until then to possibly raise money for food expenses or they will be out of pocket. Hotel will come out of our club account.

§ Fundraising: Bake Sale on Wednesday 12th of February. Kenneth to request Sweet Tomatoes on Southern and McClintock for approval.

New Business

§ Next Saturday February 8th chance for immediate group volunteering at the Black History Expo. Person to contact is Dr. Karin Hardin with MCC at 480-461-7598. She is looking for college level students to help 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students with S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects.

§ Unfortunately we were not informed about the meet and greet that happened this past Wednesday but spring fling is our next opportunity in the courtyard.

§ Points for MCAT Trivia will now be recorded for grand prize at the end of the spring 2014 semester.

Meeting was adjourned at 2:40pm by Chris Valentin, President. The next general meeting will be at 1:30pm on February 7, 2014, in LS 108.
