Meeting Minutes

January 24, 2014

Opening

The official meeting of the MCC Pre-Med Club was called to order at 1:34pm on January 24, 2014 in LS 108 by Chris Valentin, President.

Present

Chris Valentin, Nicole Erjavic, Shoshone Hayes, Ateh Wangia, Jeanne Bartleson, Karina Aguilar, Kenneth Klein, Alexis Pawlak, Ariel Smith, Abdirahman Hassan, Neal Glover, Nathan Glover, Chelsea Ward and Brandt Hansen.

Current News

Nicole presented on cardiovascular disease and how using pluripotent stem cells can use a heart mold and rebuild the heart components.

Open Issues

§ Volunteering: from Ateh- Banner Medical volunteering needs to be done immediately by individuals in order to start in the near future. If done any later you’re more likely to start at the end of summer. Mary’s food bank isn’t open for groups until May, but is open on the individual level at any time. Habitat for Humanity is open for groups anytime but we need to confirm a week in advance.

§ Dates to be established soon for the following trips: Touro University Nevada, A.T. Still University which will also let us tour their cadaver lab, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and University of Tucson.

New Business

§ Alex Callos will be stepping down from Treasurer

§ Candidates running for Treasurer spoke.

§ New Communications officer is Ariel Smith, New Recuiters are Nathan and Neil Glover

Adjournment

Meeting was adjourned at 2:30pm by Chris Valentin, President. The next general meeting will be at 1:30pm on January 31, 2014, in LS 108.
